The geopolitical situation in the world is currently changing very dynamically, followed by the functioning of NATO itself, and all these changes make it clear that the center of gravity of the Alliance’s activities is the Eastern flank. In this study, the author shows how NATO’s approach to threats from the East is evolving in light of the changing circumstances. The genesis of the formation and history of the Multinational Division Northeast Command is presented. Its main tasks and plans for development as an important element in the alliance’s security architecture on NATO’s eastern flank are also outlined. The purpose of the article is to present the command’s key importance in the NATO command system, especially in the changing geopolitical situation.
